Macarena is a consultant and professional coach who has worked globally for over 20 years in international development and women’s health and rights, for aid agencies, the private sector and non-profit organisations in a variety of settings.
She has carried out research consultancies and external evaluations for public health and women’s rights organisations at global and national level, and has worked for the women’s sector in the UK, facilitating knowledge sharing in equality auditing and mainstreaming, and co-authoring research publications for programme development and campaigning. For a number of years she was technical assistant for the European Commission in two of their Delegations in the Caribbean, managing grant funding to the NGO sector.
Macarena has an MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research (LSHTM), an MSc in Development Economics (SOAS), a Post-graduate Diploma in Gender and Development (Chile) and a BSc in International Economics (Spain).
Her studies and life experience have deepened her expertise and passion for social and human development, and she is also an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation. Macarena’s mission is to facilitate change through encouraging awareness, engagement and leadership and supporting personal empowerment and agency. She has wide experience of bringing diverse stakeholders together to produce responsive and impactful interventions.
Outside of work, Macarena is a keen on Crossfit, trail running, scuba diving and bodyboarding, and is also a qualified Pilates Mat teacher and a Kundalini Yoga teacher.
