The Sample Indicators Bank

While social enterprises and mission-driven organisations have unique elements, many share similar objectives or aims. Here, we look at some common objectives and provide examples of indicators that can show an organisation’s effect on people, communities, the environment, or the economy.

In this ‘bank’ of sample indicators you’ll find:

  • A goal or objective that social enterprises pursue.
  • Ways to indicate that these goals are being met, or to show that you are on your way to meeting the objective or goal.

Remember: Ideally, deciding which indicators are useful to your organisation should be a group exercise done through discussions with your colleagues and board or through a wider stakeholder consultation with your target group or your funders.

New Economics Foundation

NEF aims to create a new economy that works for people and within environmental limits. We are guided by three missions:

A new social settlement
To ensure people are paid well, have more time off to spend with their families, and have access to the things we all need for a decent life.

A Green New Deal
A plan for government-led investment to reduce the carbon we emit and boost nature, while creating a new generation of jobs.

The democratic economy
To devolve state power and transform ownership of the economy to give everyone an equal stake in the places where we live and work.
