Invitation to local authorities in London
In partnership with Snook and London Metropolitan University, NEF Consulting has been commissioned to design and deliver the Social Integration Design Lab as part of All of Us: The Mayor’s Strategy for Social Integration and are inviting local authorities to apply to take part.
Designed as a resource for London’s local authorities, the Social Integration Design Lab will offer tailored 1:1 and group sessions aimed at supporting participants to embed social integration and design principles into their approaches to regeneration. Drawing on existing principles for social integration and design, the Lab will enable local authority officer leads to work with social design experts, citizens and public-sector innovators to embed these into their work.
The Social Integration Design Lab will provide a safe space for collaboration in a design studio style environment. We encourage debate and the tabling of challenging issues. It will provide tools, methods and support for working to address some of these.
It will offer participants the opportunity to take part in a collaborative research in action programme, using local regeneration schemes as case studies to form the basis for recommended ‘social integration design principles’. These could be picked up and applied across London’s local authorities and beyond.
Snook, NEF Consulting and the London Metropolitan University, will be co-designing the programme with local authorities based on their submissions, challenges and ideas. We are open to a range of projects and will tailor the Lab in early 2019 to the needs and aspirations of London’s local authorities.

How to apply
All local authorities in London are invited to apply to take part in the the Social Integration Design Lab by submitting expressions of interest. The deadline for applications is 5pm Monday 4 February 2019.
Lab Open Day
We welcome all those interested in applying to attend a Lab Open Day at City Hall on Tuesday 22 January 2019, from 2pm – 4pm.
This will be a chance to discuss your project and local social integration challenges with the team. We will co-design the Lab with your input on how it can best support you. Hear inspiring examples of what can be achieved by designing your regeneration schemes for social integration and find out more about the Lab.
